Atal Tinkering Lab

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) including Self-Employment and Talent Utilization (SETU) is Government of India’s endeavour to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. Its objective is to serve as a platform for promotion of world-class Innovation Hubs, Grand Challenges, Start-up businesses and other self-employment activities, particularly in technology driven areas.

AIM is Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. AIM’s objective is to develop new programs and policies for fostering innovation in different sectors of the economy, provide platform for collaboration of opportunities for different stakeholders, create awareness and create an umbrella structure to oversee innovation ecosystem of the country. AIM’s flagship schemes include establishing Atal Tinkering Labs and Atal Incubation Centers, providing scaling up support to Established Incubation Centers, and finding ultra-low cost solution to India’s most intractable problems through Atal Grand Challenges and Atal Vikas Challenges.

ATL is an approach of Central government of India to create an environment of scientific temperament, innovation, creativity amongst Indian Students. It is a step towards a new India.

Since the last few decades, our education system has seen a paradigm shift. Today, with this approach of inculcating Hands on Methodology in the current education scenario we have resolved the need of the hour.

ATL lab would teach students essential 21st-century skills which will help them in developing their professional and personal skills. Skilled India is the need of the hour and each step taken this dream should be welcomed and we should work towards it together for a better India.

The first phase of Atal Tinkering Labs brought India a step closer to the mission of Creating One Million Neoteric Child Innovators in India by 2020. 2000+ schools across the country have been selected to establish an Atal Tinkering Lab. ATLs will be hubs of innovation where young minds will accelerate their ideas to solve unique local problems.


The objective of this scheme is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc. Young children will get a chance to work with tools and equipment to understand what, how and why aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). ATL would contain educational and learn “Do it Yourself” kits and equipment on – science, electronics, robotics, open source microcontroller boards, sensors and 3D printers etc.


Atal Tinkering Labs are dedicated works spaces where students (Class 6th to Class 12th) learn innovation skills and develop ideas that will go on to transform India. The labs are powered to acquaint students with state-of-the-art equipment such as 3D printers, robotics & electronics development tools, IoT & sensors etc. The lab activities are designed to spur the spark of creativity, and go beyond regular curriculum and text book learning. The labs will let students explore skills of future such as design and computational thinking, adaptive learning and artificial intelligence.

ThinnkWare Deliverables:

  1. Supply of all hardware in Packages P1, P2, P3 and P4 to ATL schools.
  2. Provide content, activities & projects with ATL Package.
  3. Provide support & warranty on all equipments for 2 years
  4. Provide free training for 3 days on ATL kits.
  5. Provide comprehensive AMC for next 3 years (optional).
  6. Provide training support after initial training of 3 days (optional).
  7. Provide a full time trainer on contractual basis (optional)
